I use a digital recorder to record all of my class lectures in college and want to clean the tape up… They’re pretty excellent but I want to pull out the social class shuffling of papers, coughing, air movement. What software product do you recommend? Acid Pro is far too expensive and complicated? Cake Walk Audio Creator seems along the lines of what I need but I prefer to get input first. Audacity for Windows, which I found on CNet seems decent as well… Any recommendations? Remember, this is for use at a consumer level and I don’t need a several hundred dollar product that will make DJ level work. I will get what I pay for and realize that I’m not going to get top notch quality.

  1. GearSpec™ Says:

Audacity is opensource and free,I suggest using it, as your level of work stick to cut and paste and may be fine tuning the voice.

Another commanding but free tool is WavePad sound editor fromhttp://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/
Works well, free and only half a megabyte.

Also try Solution 2 from http://biphome.spray.se/baxtrom/soliton.htm – same = free

A cheap but commanding solution would be Cool Edit 2.0 Pro which later adopted by Adobe Audition. You can do anything you want with sound with it.
