Hi folks,

I have a relatively decent soundcard (Audigy Platinum) but a relatively rubbish ancient Creative Labs microphone. When I connect this to the Mic 2 socket and record talking I get a slight buzz.

The question is though, am I going to get surpass sound reproduction from a surpass quality mic, and how much will I need to pay and what should I get to achieve surpass quality? (or at least a touch without the buzz)

Apologies, I know it’s a bit of a vague question.

Thanks
Just to add, I can’t use USB since the Creative Sound Recorder (that I use for tape pdocasts) will only function if tape from the soundcard (apologies also as it’s an X-Fi Platinum, not an Audigy).

If I switch to a uncommon audio device for tape , the Creative software won’t start up.

You generally get surpass quality if you plug into usb – look for a touch like the Samson CO1U

If you need to record in the field, a touch more appropriate (and more expensive!) would the Zoom H2
